Are you leaving WordPress.com? Would you like to redirect your .wordpress.com site address (as well as all of your permalinks) to your new domain name? TheSite Redirect upgrade lets you do just that — and managing the redirect couldn't be easier.
Do you instead want to point a domain you already own to a WordPress.com site? Read how to connect a domain you already own.
Getting Started
Select a site to redirect from this screen. After you select a site, enter the new domain or address where you want your WordPress.com traffic to be redirected. Type the URL of the destination site into the blank field, and click the blue button that saysGo.
You'll be asked to confirm the purchase, and will be taken through the checkout process. When the payment has been completed, you'll see a confirmation message on the screen. You'll be able to test or change the redirect settings from the Domains page.
Once purchased, the Site Redirect will need to be set as the Primary Domain. You can switch the primary domain of your site by going to Upgrades → Domains, clicking the … next to a domain, and selecting make primary domain.
- Site redirects will only point to a non-ssl (http://) url. If you have SSL set up on the site you're redirecting to, the http-to-https redirect will be handled on that site's end.
- In order for the Site Redirect to work correctly, the permalinks on the new site (the one you're redirecting to) should match those at WordPress.com. WordPress.com uses the following permalink structure: http://example.com/2014/10/21/sample-post/. If the new site does not use the same structure, some visitors may see an error message.
- If you have added your blog to a subdirectory like /blog, be sure to specify the full blog url (mysite.com/blog).

Disabling Redirect
If you want to turn off the redirect for a while but don't want to delete it, make your default WordPress.com address your site's primary address instead of the redirect. You can switch the primary domain of your site by going to Upgrades → Domains, clicking the … next to a domain, and selecting make primary domain.
You can turn on the redirect at any time by returning to this screen and making the site redirect URL the primary domain again.

Deleting Redirect
To delete a redirect, just remove the upgrade from your Purchases:
